Foot Pain from Corns & Callus

Corns and calluses form on your feet in response to excessive pressure and friction. It’s the body’s way of protecting itself from injury. These can be caused by wearing the wrong type of shoes for the shape of your feet causing pressure or maybe from a bone deformity in your foot. The thickened area of the skin is usually hard and circular and can cause excessive foot pain. Corn can be found on the tops and tips of toes, between them and along the sides of the feet. Calluses are usually found on the soles of your feet, often in the heels.

If pressure continues to be applied on your corn or calluses, they may become inflamed, infected or ulcerated. Call North Shore Podiatry for treatment of corns and calluses and other issues that may be causing you foot pain.
