Orthotics are devices inserted in shoes to provide biomechanical control or redistribute pressure. These are often used to provide arch support, absorb shock or control abnormal foot movement during a gait cycle. Wearing one has been said to alleviate other conditions relating to foot movement including pain in the knees, legs, hips and back.
North Shore Podiatry have a range of prefabricated or over-the-counter orthotic solutions that address a number of issues. If you need one, North Shore Podiatry can also create computer-generated orthotics using our gait scan technology. This process captures your foot movement while in motion, so you get an orthotic solution that’s customised to your needs. Call us to find out more about how orthotics can help you and what we have available.
while every effort is made to ensure that the orthotics are perfect for the client- please be aware that not all shoes can accomodate orthotics, especially fashions shoes with high heels. Therefore when orthotics are made for a client the podiatrist will ask you to bring in shoes you would like to wear them in. Orthotics for sports activities are designed for that purpose and may not fit into dress shoes.
